Good Morning readers, bloggers and friends!
This morning I am on my second batch of coffee – I need it after my morning workout at the gym, and after staying up to watch all that Bachelor nonsense from last night.
I’ll try to keep my Bachelor rant shorter this week, but boy, oh boy, are the fantasy suite dates the best. I mean, I find it so comical that they can choose or not choose to stay the night together on National Television. Would you want your intimate relationship to be displayed to the world?
Apparently Raven did. After her spiel last week about how her ex-boyfriend never satisfied her, she made sure to let us all know this week that Nick is, “Really good at what he does.” FACEPALM. Honestly my emotions from last week remain the same for Raven – embarrassed.
I give her props for being so open and carefree, but I wish I could see the reaction of her parents, and his, as they watched the show last night. Good job Nick’s parents – you raised a man of “talents,” per say -HA! Goodness gracious.
I still wonder why people sign up to be on the show? I guess because once you’re a part of the Bachelor/Bachelorette squad you can live your life freely by selling Fit Tea and Yummy Bear Hair products. You know, capitalize off of all of those endorsements from brands you have never heard of. Hey, if you’ve got it flaunt it – or if you’ve been embarrassed on TV you should get some free kickback somehow!
Overall, last nights episode was so/so in my opinion. Since they already announced the new Bachelorette was Rachel, it kind of made it an anticlimactic episode knowing that she was going to be the one kicked off. The whole time I just kept thinking poor Rachel, having to relive this tragedy with Nick of all people!
Then, can we talk about Nick and Vanessa? I mean, I find it hard to believe that a fun date would be running into an ice bath multiple times. I think the producers just wanted another excuse to put Nick in some revealing shorts that were hideous. Now we all know what Nick is packing, thanks to the swim shorts/tights he had to wear and Raven’s swift mouth.
Can I also just say the whole Nick and Vanessa combination is really weird… I mean half of the date they just kept saying how they are the same, which to me sounded kind of boring and also explains why they are both so awkward. Then they kept skirting around the fact that he lives in America and she lives in Canada – but not where they would live as a couple…
Oye-vey! Good luck with all that Bachelor Nick! I feel as if Vanessa doesn’t win, she will show up on Bachelor in Paradise and just act like she is too-good for everyone there.
I will say that I have been a bad girl and read the spoiler so I may or may not know who wins/gets engaged. Sorry, not sorry, if that gives it away Bachelor loving friends.
On a side note – I was super productive this weekend, which is always a great thing!
I managed to book our wedding venue finally (snaps for me) and I worked on some home improvement.
Now that I am home quite a lot while my fiance is on the road, I have been looking for things that I can do to keep me busy. Luckily for me, he had taken down some cabinets on an unnecessary wall in our house. The cabinets are exactly the same as the ones in both our bathrooms and kitchen and they could use an update, so we thought they might be great practice for us when it comes to painting!
We want to see how we could spruce up all of them in the future and add some va-va-voom to the house. So this weekend, I took it upon myself to paint them! Which is vaguely terrifying because I usually don’t like to take projects on like this by myself (for fear of messing up).
Over the weekend, it took about a day to get a whole cabinet done – probably because I am slow at things, but I think it was well worth it!
I started off cleaning the cabinet with some Clorox wipes, just to get all of the dirt off. Goodness knows you do not want any dirt on your painting surface! I unfortunately have made that mistake before when I was younger and doing that millennial know-it-all lazy-stuff. Needless to say what I painted didn’t turn out the best back then.
Next, I took an old cloth I had and used Jasco Easy Liquid Sander Deglosser to wipe off as much of the wax/shine that was on the cabinets. This part was important just so the paint will actually adhere to the surface of the cabinet. I got the Deglosser from Lowes for about $9, but you can also find similar products on Amazon.
After I let the cabinets sit and dry, I grabbed my paint and a two-inch edging paint brush. I prefer painting with a brush over a roller always, but I think that’s just the artsy-fartsyness in me. If you prefer a roller, you can always get in the tough areas with the brush and then use the roller on the larger areas.
The next part is so important! I used General Finishes Milk Paint to paint the cabinet I worked on this weekend – and it is the best stuff ever! It only took two coats of the paint to cover the cabinet fully and make them look totally different. Then over top the paint I added a coat of the General Finishes Top Coat, which I bought in flat, and boom – our cabinet looks amazing!
Both the paint and the top coat are a little pricey, but it saved me from having to sand which was totally worth it. I am not all about that sanding business!
Overall, I am super happy with the results and can’t wait to do more. I hope this, maybe, is useful, but if it isn’t, at least you got to read about how weird this season of the Bachelor has been…
If there is something that you would like me to write about, please leave a comment and I would be happy to read it!
Now I am off to the store to get more ink for my calligraphy pen and food for taco Tuesday. Have an exciting Tuesday everyone! 🙂
